On October 24th, the Attleboro Area Industrial Museum welcomed approximately 60 history enthusiasts to a unique event presented by the Attleboro Historical Preservation Society. Titled “A Virtual Tour of Attleborough, England,” the evening was led by Rachel Killion, who captivated attendees with a historical journey across the Atlantic, shedding light on the British roots that inspired our town’s name.
Rachel’s presentation, beginning at 6:45 PM, took the audience on an hour-long virtual exploration of Attleborough, England, through an engaging PowerPoint and a display of artifacts that traced connections between our town and its British namesake. Though the exact story behind the naming of Attleborough, Massachusetts, remains a mystery, the evening highlighted long curiosity, correspondence, and shared history between the two towns.
The event was open to all, including families with children, and created an atmosphere of connection and discovery. Attendees, young and old, enjoyed browsing the artifacts that linked both towns, enriching their understanding of the historical ties and learning about the charm and legacy of Attleborough, England.
